While I was at New York Fashion Week, I had the unique opportunity to shoot with the talented team behind Zenia De Sousa for a.b. Hombre. Zenia was showing her collection at The Art Institutes Show and generously offered to let me take her designs for a spin on the streets after they finished their spin on the runway. We had a blast shooting in her head-turning designs (note all the bystanders in the background swiveling their heads), and it was really touching to see how excited this young designer was to see her pieces IRL settings. Zenia designs with her life- and work-partner, Albert Beltran, under the label a.b. Hombre, and together they create cutting-edge looks for both men and women in luxury materials like sheepskin, signature patterned neoprene and lambskin. Their unique proposition is in the space of “couples-wear”, a niche that is quite underrepresented in fashion, as most brands have separate divisions for menswear and womenswear, so there is very little congruency between the two. Really looking forward to seeing this Miami-based team make their mark in the fashion world.
