Life is always at its most interesting when two worlds that you love collide.  For me, those two worlds are fashion and skateboarding.  When I was competing, I was far from the fashion world.  And since I’ve been in fashion, I’ve been far from my board.  So when Express asked me to take part in their #ExpressLife campaign and share something of myself with you, I immediately wanted to tell my story of how both these worlds live passionately inside me.  What better way than to literally suit up and skate?  See, when I stopped skating, I had absolutely no idea what to do with my life.  After spending years focused on a singular purpose, I truly had no Plan B if I failed to become one of the world’s top skateboarders.  I had chased that dream to an almost dead end, so I had to create a new dream to chase.  Rolling with what life offered me, my second great love, fashion, seemed the logical choice, and I slowly started to transition my Snapchat and Instagram from skating to menswear.  That, to me, is what the #ExpressLife means, not being stuck in one space, following a different path, being open to change without looking at it as a failure.  When I decided to shoot this in a suit, I knew the exact one I wanted.  The SLIM PHOTOGRAPHER BURGUNDY COTTON SATEEN SUIT is so incredibly comfortable and well-fitting that I did absolutely no tailoring to it and managed to skate for an hour without a single rip.  The cotton sateen gives it the right amount of matte shine and affords so much stretch that it still clings to the body after hours of sitting and bending.  I paired it with their PERFORATED LEATHER SLIP-ON SNEAKERS which, while not being perfect for skating, are exactly what I would wear on my way to the park when I want to be more fashionable.  Or with a suit for a casual meeting when I want to look more skater.  Two worlds blending together and rolling with it…

This is a sponsored conversation written by me on behalf of Express.  The opinions and text are all mine.
