There have been times lately that I have paid more for my luggage than my flight. You know what I’m talking about. You find a flight online for 35 bucks one way, then you have to pay an extra $55 for a carry-on and one checked bag. So I’ve been trying to see if I can get away for the weekend with a single bag, and I’ve found a formula that worked for a recent trip to Miami Beach. It goes something like this:
Two t-shirts + one pair of black jeans + one white dress shirt + one dress jacket + one pair of dress pants + two pair of sunglasses + one pair of sneakers + one pair of Chelsea boots + every stinkin’ piece of bling you own
It’s really all you’ll need if you wear another t-shirt, a pair of jeans and a statement jacket on the plane. Even at an ultra-luxury resort like the Nobu Eden Roc where I stayed and spent three days between my private pool cabana, my balcony and the bar, I always had enough pieces to put together a different look. Or at least I thought I did. The piña coladas there will make you forget not only your wardrobe worries but just about every other worry you brought with you on vacation.
