One of my favorite trips ever during the holidays was to the ski resort in La Plagne in the French Alps. Stunningly beautiful, it had some of the best snowboarding trails I’d been on, and hanging out with friends at the lodge in the evening was a lesson in French aprés-ski style. Every holiday season since then, I have found myself being attracted to vintage alpine looks for hanging out with friends and classic but relaxed suiting for nighttime parties. Very James Bond, this style, as he switched effortlessly from chasing villains down the slopes in fantastic sweaters to entering the bar in a tuxedo.

As I’m in LA this holiday season and absolutely nothing here screams “vintage” or “Alps”, I’m still going to be rocking this vibe when I get together with friends and attend parties. I found all the clothing pieces you see at Express and created this montage of looks. Instead of shooting them with palm trees and ocean views, I “placed” myself into my dream vacation spot in the Alps. Even though I’m not there, I can at least feel like I am. I’m totally in love with the bright red puffer coat and Mondrian-inspired color block sweater, so all my friends better be prepared. I’ll be wearing them a lot, whenever we get together for catching up, watching the Super Bowl and hitting the slopes in Colorado. The Express suit and the tux, well, you’ve seen me in them before, and unlike many of the clothes I’ve worn over the past year, these two suits have become staples. I’ve paired the burgundy sateen suit with a black turtleneck this time, which totally adds that vintage 70’s vibe. The tux, I’ll be wearing to charity events and galas, although the tux jacket has made many appearances at clubs with a pair of ragged black jeans. I expect it’ll do the same throughout the holidays. You know I like to mix-and-match styles, create something new, express myself in different ways. That’s what holiday styling is all about. If the season is about giving, then give yourself a break and try something new. No one’s stopping you.
